The Taylor series of a function (that is infinitely differentiable) ff is the infinite series

n=0f(n)(a)n!(xa)n.\sum_{n=0}^\infty \frac{f^{(n)}(a)}{n!}(x-a)^n.

Expanding the sum a certain number of terms is often done to approximate ff as a polynomial of a certain order.
